India's premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin revealed skipper Rohit Sharma's aggressive match-winning intent after India's emphatic win over Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test. India had a remarkable outing on Tuesday as they defeated Bangladesh in the second Test of the two-match series at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Despite two and a half days being washed out, India forced a result on the final day, riding on a clinical all-round effort from their players. While Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as India's wrecker-in-chief with the bat, Ashwin once again proved his bowling mettle, dismantling the Tigers with his spin wizardry.

Ashwin received the player of the series award, equalling the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan in this process. While speaking to the broadcasters, the talismanic spinner reflected on the victory, revealing Rohit's inspirational words that motivated the Indian players to a force a result in the rain-marred affair.

"Massive win for us looking at the WTC points table. When we bowled them out yesterday, Rohit was very keen and said that we needed almost 80 overs to bowl at them and told us that we will go hard straightaway," Ashwin stated.

He also lavished praise on the Indian captain for walking the talk and adopting an aggressive batting approach across both innings.

"He went out and hit his first ball for six, everyone follows that. Lovely to see how Jassi bowled, how Akash and Siraj turned up. I am happy to be compelled to bowl the carrom ball. I am happy to be settled. I can bring different subtle variations and settle in the game," he added.

India Consolidate Their 1st Position In WTC Points Table

After their emphatic win in Kanpur, India solidified their first position on the WTC points table, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the WTC final. They will face New Zealand in their next Test series at home.
