India secured a 2-1 win in their two-match Test series against Bangladesh, showcasing a dominant performance in the second match held in Kanpur. After winning the toss and electing to field first, India restricted Bangladesh to 107/3 in 35 overs on the rain-affected opening day. The match resumed only on day 4, where Bangladesh finished with 233, thanks to Mominul Haque’s unbeaten 107. Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian bowling attack with figures of 3/50.

India's response to Bangladesh's 233 was remarkable, with the team adopting an aggressive approach. Rohit Sharma set the tone by hitting three sixes as his first scoring shots, propelling India to a series of milestones. The team raced to the fastest 50, 100, and 150 in the history of Test cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal (72) and KL Rahul (68) contributed with rapid half-centuries, and India declared at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs.

India’s Bowlers Dominate In Bangladesh’s Second Innings

In the Bangladesh's second innings, India's bowlers delivered a clinical performance. R Ashwin struck early and removed Zakir Hasan and Hasan Mahmud, while Jasprit Bumrah (3/17) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/34) dismantled the batting lineup. Despite resistance from Shadman Islam (50) and Mushfiqur Rahim (37), Bangladesh were bowled out for a mere 146, leaving India with only 95 runs to chase for victory.

India’s chase wasn’t without drama as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill fell early to Mehidy Hasan’s spin. However, Jaiswal’s aggressive knock of 51 from 45 balls, supported by Virat Kohli, stabilized the innings. Jaiswal fell just before the finish line, but Rishabh Pant, in his signature style, hit a boundary to secure India’s seven-wicket win and complete the series sweep. The victory also ensured India’s continued dominance at the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table, ahead of their upcoming tour of Australia.

At the post-match presentation, captain Rohit Sharma shared his thoughts on India’s performance and the team’s future under new head coach Gautam Gambhir. Reflecting on the transition from Rahul Dravid’s tenure, Rohit said,

"Well, in life, we all keep moving. And obviously, at some stage, we have to start working with different personnel. When Rahul bhai said that he was done here. He did a fantastic job and a fantastic time we had together. But we have to move on and the life goes on.

"With Gambhir, you know I have played with him. I know his mindset. We all know how he wants to take things. Its still early days but yeah, we have started well. It has been fruitful so far," he added.

India have found their pace and will be looking to maintain it in the upcoming big Tests against New Zealand and the Border Gavaskar Trophy later this year.
