Under the glittering lights of Dubai International Stadium, Virat Kohli walked off to a thunderous ovation, his head held high but his eyes betraying a flicker of regret. His 84 off 98 balls had just anchored India’s tense chase of 265 against Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final, but it was the 16 runs he left unconquered.

The century Virat Kohli narrowly missed which could have been his 52nd ODI ton painted his wife Anushka Sharma’s face in the stands with a fleeting ache before pride took over.

Anushka Sharma Toggles From Despair To Pride After Kohli's Dismissal

Virat Kohli's dismissal left the crowd in stunned silence. Looking set for a hundred, he mistimed a shot off Adam Zampa's delivery, finding Ben Dwarshuis at wide long-on. As the ball nestled into the fielder's hands, cameras quickly panned to the stands where Anushka Sharma, Kohli's wife, was seen with a mix of shock and disbelief.

Having watched her husband inch closer to yet another century, Anushka's initial reaction was one of disappointment. Standing beside her was Kohli's brother, Vikas, who clapped and acknowledged Kohli's efforts.

Moments later, the actress gracefully shifted her emotions, leading a standing ovation for the Indian run-machine, clapping fervently to appreciate his effort. The sight of Anushka applauding, joined by Virat Kohli's brother, Vikas, was a heart-warming reminder of the unwavering support from the stands.

India Seal Final Berth

India's chase, despite a few nervy moments, was a combined effort of calculated aggression and steady partnerships. Earlier, Australian skipper Steve Smith's decision to bat first seemed to pay off as he top-scored with 73, supported by Alex Carey's brisk 61.

However, the Indian bowling attack, spearheaded by Mohammed Shami (3/48) and backed by Varun Chakravarthy (2/49) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/40), pulled things back admirably, restricting Australia to 264 in 49.3 overs.

India's Resilient Counter-Attack

The Indian reply saw a rapid start from openers Rohit Sharma (28) and Shubman Gill (8), but both fell early. Kohli, however, steadied the innings with Shreyas Iyer (45) in a crucial 91-run partnership.

KL Rahul's unbeaten 42 off 34 balls, supported by Hardik Pandya's fiery 28 off 24, ensured India crossed the line with eleven balls to spare. With this victory, India advances to their third Champions Trophy final, keeping hopes alive for another ICC title under Rohit Sharma's leadership.
