A fan seemingly breached the ground security of the Dubai International Stadium in India’s high-octane semifinal showdown against Australia. The fan in contention even hugged Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul after the latter sealed the game with a huge six off Glenn Maxwell in the penultimate over.

Rahul composed a fighting 42* from 34 balls, and shared match-defining partnerships with half-centurion Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya to take India home.

Mere moments after KL Rahul smoked Glenn Maxwell out of the ground for a gigantic six to storm India to a four-wicket win, a fan rushed into the ground to hug the Indian wicketkeeper-batter.

Batting at number six, KL Rahul made his way into the crease following the dismissal of Axar Patel at 178-4 in 35 overs. The cricketer scored a fighting 42* from 34 balls with two boundaries and two sixes to fend off Australian bowlers alongside Virat Kohli (84 off 98) and Hardik Pandya (28 off 24).

With Team India sealing the match in the penultimate over with four wickets in hand, Rohit Sharma’s troops booked a place in the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Earlier in the match, Australia batted first and listed 264. Interim captain Steve Smith top-scored in the innings with a calculated 73 off 96 balls while dangerman and India’s nemesis Travis Head recorded 39 runs at the top of the order. Alex Carey also cracked a fiery 61 before falling to a runout.

For India, senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets, including the prized-scalps of Steve Smith and Cooper Connolly. Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with two wickets apiece.
