In a savage response to Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed’s controversial remarks about India’s captain Rohit Sharma, former cricketer Yograj Singh has demanded an apology and called for action against the political figure. Mohamed faced widespread backlash after she criticised Rohit for being 'the most unimpressive captain' and suggested he needed to lose weight.

Yograj Singh, known for his outspoken views, expressed his disappointment, stating that such comments against a cricketerð who has brought pride to the nation were disrespectful.

Yograj Calls Out Shama’s 'Unimpressive Captain' Remark

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Yograj Singh said, "Jiska kaam usi ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje,” emphasising that only those skilled enough should critique the work of others, and those without expertise should refrain from making such comments.

“I only want to say one thing, jiska kaam usi ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje (the work only suits those skilled enough to do it; if done by anyone else, it’s ruined). Indian cricketers, people and the land are dearer to me than my own life. If someone in the political system makes such a statement about a player who has brought pride to our nation, that person should be ashamed," Yograj told news agency ANI.

Yograj Singh went further by addressing the mocking of Indian cricketers, particularly during tough times. He stated that the public should stand united in support of the players, and criticised those who demean sportspersons.

“They have no right to stay in our nation. Cricket is our religion; we lost against New Zealand and Australia, and a lot of things were said about Rohit and Virat. We stood up for them. I feel so sad. These things happen in Pakistan. Their former star player said, ‘Who will eat so many bananas?’ (Taking a jibe at Wasim Akram). Action should be taken. This should not be tolerated. If I were the prime minister, I would have said, ‘Pack your bags and leave the country’," Yograj said.

Expressing his outrage, he also stated that if he was the Prime Minister, he would demand those mocking the nation’s cricketers to leave the country.
