Ahead of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan has reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing future cricket stars through his franchise, the South Delhi Superstarz. In a powerful Instagram video released by the team, Dhawan positioned the squad as a dedicated platform for raw talent to flourish.
Dhawan also highlighted success stories like IPL performers Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, and Digvesh Rathi, who saw success in IPL through DPL roads.
Dhawan Opens Up On His Purpose
Notably, the initiative, under Shikhar Dhawan's 'The Da One Sports' banner, focuses on providing structured support and opportunities, turning the Superstarz into a launchpad for aspiring cricketers aiming to make their mark.
The Indian stalwart shared his deeply personal motivation for investing in young talent through an emotional Instagram caption.
"@SouthDelhiSuperstarz isn't just a team, it's a space where raw talent rises, roars, and leaves a mark. It's for those who dare to dream and are driven to make a difference. Cricket gave me everything I have... and some returns aren’t measured in runs or trophies, but in purpose. This is mine. #DelhiPremierLeague," Dhawan wrote.
In the Instagram video, Dhawan articulated his driving force, resonating with his commitment to mentorship. "Maine cricket se sab kuch paaya hai, par ab waqt hai cricket ko wapas dene ka" (I have received everything from cricket, now it's time to give back to cricket), Dhawan said.
As DPL 2025 approaches, Dhawan's initiative sets a tone of intent and purpose, positioning the South Delhi Superstarz at the heart of Delhi's mission to cultivate its next generation of cricketing heroes.
Dhawan Continues Cricket With WCL 2025 Fire
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan has shown flashes of brilliance in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 T20 tournament, representing India Champions. In four innings so far, Dhawan has accumulated 134 runs at an average of 44.67 and a strike rate of 136.73.
His standout performance came against Australia Champions on July 26, when he smashed a commanding 91 off just 60 balls, giving a reminder of his vintage form. While his consistency has been somewhat patchy, Dhawan’s form remains crucial for India's hopes in the tournament, especially as they enter the business end of the WCL T20 2025.
