It might be unfair to compare players from different eras or generations; fans, former players, and critics cannot stop themselves from doing so. Former India great Sachin Tendulkar's rich batting legacy has been carried forward by Virat Kohli, who has made a mark for himself on the global stage and is chasing the former's records.

Kohli recently scored his 47th One-Day International (ODI) and is in touching distance of Tendulkar's tally (49), which the former will hope to surpass during the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

While numbers and statistics might be similar or differ by a very minuscule margin, both are similar in other traits as highlighted by former India player Sanjay Manjrekar.

Speaking to Vimal Kumar's YT channel, Manjrekar explained what makes Kohli and Tendulkar similar is their desire to be on the field more than anything else.

Here's what Manjrekar said

"The one similarity between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar is that both of them enjoy playing cricket. They want to be on the field. He was not part of the team for the game against Bangladesh but was still on the field.

I don't think Virat Kohli wants power or leadership. He just wants to play and it looks like he enjoys being a part of the team. He captained the team for a very long time, so there is no scope for an unfulfilled dream. Being with the team, travelling with players, going to the ground, and being part of winning moments are more important to him than having power,"

Speaking about Kohli breaking Tendulkar's 51 Test ton record, the cricketer-turned-commentator stated that it will be difficult for even the former to achieve.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old has been rested for the first two ODIs against Australia and could be seen taking the field in the third and final match.
