Rohit Sharma crafted a prestigious 121* from 125 balls against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in the third ODI of their three-match series on Saturday, October 25. A day after pulling out his 33rd ODI hundred in a match-winning cause for Team India, Rohit has now “signed off” from Sydney, presumably one final time.

The legendary opening batter took to his Instagram account on Sunday and shared a picture of himself heading into the departure section of the airport in Sydney.

Rohit Sharma “signs off” after nostalgia-inducing ton

On Sunday, October 26, i.e., a day after the conclusion of India’s away ODI series against Australia, legendary ‘Men in Blue’ opener and former captain Rohit Sharma “signed off” from Sydney. The cricketer shared a picture of himself from the airport on his Instagram account, and in the caption, he wrote:

“One last time, signing off from Sydney.”

Rohit Sharma also ensured that he signed off from Sydney in style, considering roughly 24 hours prior, the legendary opening batter powered India to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory against Australia at the SCG. The 38-year-old clattered 13 elegant boundaries and three huge sixes in the innings to whack 121* off 125 balls, crafting an unbeaten 168-run partnership with longtime teammate Virat Kohli in the process.

The SCG in Australia already holds a special place in Rohit Sharma’s glittering career, considering it is a venue where he first announced himself in the format with a splendid 66 against Australia in the first final of the 2008 Commonwealth Bank tri-nation series.

Having already retired from Tests and T20Is for India, Rohit Sharma will now be seen gracing the Indian colors again in his team’s next 50-overs assignment.
