Jasprit Bumrah’s workload has recently become a hot topic, as the team management moves cautiously to prevent injuries. Depending on that, his availability in the upcoming Test remained under wraps.

After Team India’s defeat in the Lord’s Test, the comparisons between Jasprit Bumrah and Ben Stokes’ workload management sparked debate. However, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate dismissed the chatter ahead of the next clash.

India’s Assistant Coach Shuts Down The Workload Debate

As the Lord’s Test has become Team India’s biggest disappointment in the ongoing series, the team’s plan on Jasprit Bumrah came under the scanner. In the last match, Bumrah’s limited spell grabbed the attention, especially as Ben Stokes stole the show on the final day with a dominant solo act.

In the second innings, Bumrah bowled only 16 overs while Stokes delivered 24, sparking calls for India to rely more on Bumrah to change the game’s momentum. As quoted by the Hindustan Times, Team India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate brushed aside the debate.

“That was super impressive for Ben to come out on their last day and bowl the amount of overs he did with the intensity he did, and obviously bats and fields as well. We’re not here to compare our bowlers to individuals from other teams. We have our own strengths. We know what Jasprit particularly does in spells, in shorter spells, which he prefers bowling in,” he said.

Adding to that, Ryan ten Doeschate said that the team is completely transparent about Bumrah’s workload and confident they’re managing the ace pacer in the best possible way.

“And when the time’s right, and what I alluded about Siraj, some bowlers are like that. You get the best out of them in their seventh, eighth, and ninth over, but not everyone has to be the same as that. And we feel that in consultation with Jasprit, how we use him is the best way for the team,” he said.

In the third Test, Bumrah shone with a five-wicket haul in the first innings and took 2 key wickets in the second. Just not with the ball, he stitched a crucial partnership with Ravindra Jadeja while chasing down the total. With the fourth Test approaching, fans eagerly await news of his availability.
