In a significant development, India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has hinted at Jasprit Bumrah's participation in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. Bumrah, who bagged sensational fifers at Headingley and Lord's, made room for Akash Deep at Edgbaston, with India resting him for the second Test of the series.
Bumrah Likely To Retain His Place For Manchester Test
Considering Jasprit Bumrah has been prone to injuries, the Indian think-tank has taken a cautious approach in managing his workload. The fast bowler has showcased commendable form on the tour, though, scalping twelve wickets in four innings at a superb strike rate of 43.
Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming Test at Old Trafford, former Dutch cricketer and India's current assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate stated that the fast bowler would likely play in the much-awaited clash, with the series on the line.
“We’ll make that call in Manchester. We know we’ve got him for one of the last two Tests. I think it’s pretty obvious the series is on the line now in Manchester, so there will be a leaning towards playing him,” the Netherlands great said as quoted by Express Sports.
The third Test at Lord's went down to the wire, with India eventually ending up as the losing side. Besides bowling 43 overs, Bumrah showcased resilience with the bat in the second innings, facing 54 deliveries during a valiant stand with Ravindra Jadeja.
Thus, considering he was fully involved in a hectic five-day Test match, fans were curious whether he would receive clearance to feature in the Manchester Test. However, a nine-day gap between the third and fourth Test ensured he got ample rest days. As a result, it seems India will keep him in their playing XI for the penultimate affair.
