Dindigul Dragons captain and opener Ravichandran Ashwin smeared 69 unbeaten runs from just 30 deliveries at the top of the order against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the second qualifier of the TNPL 2024 season. The legendary Indian all-rounder launched 11 boundaries and three sixes and reached his half-century from just 25 balls within the first nine overs of the innings.

Ashwin’s batting blitzkrieg helped the Dindigul Dragons gun down Tamizhans’ 108-run total with nine wickets and more than nine overs to spare. The outcome also influenced the Dragons to qualify for the finals of the TNPL 2024 season, where they will face Lyca Kovai Kings in Chennai on August 4.

Ravichandran Ashwin smacked his second successive half-century in the playoffs stage of the ongoing TNPL 2024 season by smearing 69* from just 30 balls against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in the second qualifier on August 2. A couple of days ago in Dindigul, the 37-year-old also cracked 57 runs from 35 balls against Chepauk Super Gillies in the Eliminator.

In the second qualifier at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Ashwin shared 81 runs in just 8.2 overs with opening partner Vimal Khumar (run-a-ball 28). After the latter’s dismissal at the hands of P Bhuvaneswaran, the Dindigul Dragons skipper hammered down a 25-ball half-century.

Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin also launched Bhuvaneswaran with back-to-back sixes in the 11th over to notch up the winning runs for the Dindigul Dragons.

Earlier in the match, the legendary off-spinner picked up a wicket of IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans opener Tushar Raheja to finish with figures of 1-27 from four overs. P Vignesh’s three-fer and Suboth Bhati’s double strike helped the Dragons skittle out the Tamizhans for just 108 in 19.4 overs.
