Irfan Pathan Praises India, Shubman Gill For Success In England
As the eventful series came to an end, former cricketer Irfan Pathan reviewed the tour and spoke highly of the transitioning team. In his latest YouTube video, Pathan applauded India for staying focused and not giving in to “outside noise”.
He referred to the public and expert opinions that had called for Kuldeep Yadav to play, but the team stuck to their plan.
"This Indian team doesn't give heed to outside noise. The outside noise asks them to play Kuldeep Yadav from the first Test to the fifth Test. India didn't play him. What they wanted was to increase batting depth. They backed it and drew the series 2-2 to prove they are a good touring side,” Irfan said.
Pathan also praised captain Shubman Gill for having a historic series with 754 runs. He opined that Gill will keep the No.4 spot safe for many years to come.
"Shubman Gill will keep the No.4 spot for so many years. [He] Scripted records after records. He was equally impressive as captain, especially today [under pressure on Day 5 at The Oval]. But no.4 is sealed," he added.
Not only that, but the ex-cricketer deemed Rishabh Pant hobbling down the crease with a broken toe as a series-defining moment. Irfan Pathan lastly concluded that the young team has shown a lot of promise and will need experience; they’ll do wonders in the future.
Pathan’s Cryptic Tweet Causes Stir On Social Media
Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan sparked a social media storm after India’s dramatic win against England in the 5th Test at The Oval. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “This series reminds everyone once again, CRICKET DOESN’T STOP FOR ANYONE!”
While the message appeared to praise the team’s resilience, many fans interpreted it as a dig at Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. While Kohli retired from the format, Bumrah played only 3 Tests due to workload management. Some users accused Pathan of being “salty” or subtly targeting the senior players.
