Gautam Gambhir has long been an embodiment of fighting spirit and a never-give-up attitude. His on-field aggression while representing his team has always been a point of discussion. In the recently finished India vs England fifth Test at the Kennington Oval, his team represented the same attitude. They fought and fought and ultimately snatched the win from the jaws of defeat in a cliffhanger of a game.

The Indian head coach did not shy away from showing his emotions for his team. He took to his X handle and posted snaps from the game with the caption - "We'll win some, we'll lose some…. but we'll NEVER surrender! Well done boys!"

A message from a true leader, who is proud of the fight his team has shown on the field.

India's First Innings Fightback

Talking about the fight from the team India, after losing their fifth toss of the series, they were asked to bat first on a greenish track. After a moderate batting effort on a challenging track, India managed to post 224 runs before being bundled out.

England made a great start with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley going all guns blazing and decimating the Indian bowlers. Just when it looked like the home team would bat the visitors out of the game in the first innings itself, India scripted a comeback. Showing tremendous fighting instinct, they restricted England to 247, conceding only a lead of 23 runs.

In the second innings, the Indian batters showed greater resilience and put in a stronger display. Led by Yashasvi Jaiswal's brilliant century (118 off 164) and Akash Deep's fighting 66, India posted 396 runs on the board, asking England to chase down 373 runs in the final innings.

A Win From A Near Impossibe Situation

They started well in their defence of the target, picking up three wickets within the first 106 runs. But after this, Joe Root and Harry Brook stitched together a partnership of 195 runs, and it looked like the match had slipped away from India again.

But once more, the fighting instincts of the team kicked in, and they made a stunning comeback. Led by Mohammed Siraj, the Indian bowling managed to bundle the home team for 367 runs and snatch a memorable six-run win for the team.

Throughout the game, the tides turned, the balance shifted, and it looked like India was fading away from the contest. But never did the unit stop believing, never did they back out from the fight, they kept going for it and at last managed to take the win home. The post by Gambhir is a perfect tribute to his team of warriors.
