The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed New Zealand-based David Reid as the new mental and skill conditioning coach of the national men’s team. David is currently associated with the prominent IPL franchise, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), having joined the MS Dhoni-famed group in 2021.

PCB has confirmed that Reid will be joining the Pakistan national team prior to their T20I series in England, which itself serves as a precursor to next month’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.

Apart from David Reid, the PCB also roped in former Australian cricketer Simon Helmot as the new fielding coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team.

As per an official statement issued by the PCB, both Reid and Helmot were hired on the recommendation of newly-appointed head coach and former South African batter Gary Kirsten.

Kirsten himself was recently named as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach for a period of two years, and his tenure will include the high-profile ICC events like the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and next year’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan cricket team is slated to play a four-match T20I series in England as part of their pre-T20 World Cup 2024 preparations. The series will be played between May 22 and May 30 across four different English venues.

Babar Azam and co. will subsequently travel to the United States to kick-off their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. The ‘Men in Green’ are scheduled to face the United States in their opening match of the tournament in Texas on June 6.
