Stubbs has been a consistent performer for DC [AP]
Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has heaped high praise on young South African batter Tristan Stubbs for his commendable performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
Rayudu, who is a six-time IPL winner, seems impressed with Stubbs' incredible hitting against pace and spin and thinks the finisher can become as destructive as AB de Villiers going forward.
“Tristan Stubbs is an all-round package. He has bowled a beautiful over and the way he has been striking the ball this season — he hits every length, right from the short ball to a fuller ball," Rayudu was quoted as saying by Cricket Times.
"He is also very good against slower ones. I feel he has tremendous talent. He is one of those South Africans in the mould of AB de Villiers. I think he has long way to get there. But, he looks really good to become as good as AB de Villiers,” he added.
After being released by Mumbai Indians, Stubbs has been a valuable asset for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024. In 13 innings, the batter has amassed 378 runs at an average of 54 and a blistering strike rate of 190.91, playing a pivotal role in DC's resurgence in the competition.
Talking about the Capitals, they managed to keep themselves alive in the playoffs race following a clinical win over Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday night.
With their playoff chances hanging by a thread, DC would like some results to go their way in order to make a wildcard entry to the next stage.
