Marcus Stoinis made little impact on Tuesday (May 14) in a crucial IPL 2024 fixture for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Delhi Capitals in their own backyard at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Australian all-rounder could only muster 5 off 7 balls before Rishabh Pant stumped him off Axar Patel.

Coming to chase 209, Stoinis had to steady the ship after LSG lost Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul early. However, all he did was to play a needless shot against Axar Patel, against whom he only scored 22 off 38 balls in T20s while losing his wicket twice.

The number improved to three in favour of Axar, when Stoinis came down the attack to play a big shot. He was completely beaten by the turn of the delivery before Pant grabbed the ball with big gloves and stylishly whipped the bails off.

Even though it seemed a soft dismissal to the naked eye, on-field umpires told Stoinis to stay for a little. They wanted to check whether Pant's gloves were behind the stumps while collecting the ball, and the replay on the big screen showed there was no problem at all.
