IPL 2024 has been marked by a relentless display of power-hitting, and courtesy of the new brand of cricket; records have toppled this year as the season surpassed the most sixes ever hit in a single edition record last night.

T20 cricket has evolved enormously in the past couple of years with fearless and aggressive intent taking centre stage in the shorter format. The current generation players are built differently and the lack of fear of failure has further endorsed the new brand of cricket.

That being said, the change of dynamics were visible in the Indian Premier League (IPL) especially after the impact player rule. Since the rule came into effect, batting records have tumbled left, right and centre.

Records tumble in IPL 2024

Coming back to the ongoing IPL 2024 season, the tournament has been nothing short of a run fest for the batters as a record number of milestones were broken in a single season itself.

In the latest addition, a total of 20 sixes were hit in the DC-LSG game held last night in Delhi. Those 20 maximums surpassed the total season tally to 1125, which is the most number of sixes ever hit in a single edition of the IPL season.

Previously, 1124 sixes were registered last year, and 1062 maximums were hit in 2022.

However, this year, things have hit the ceiling as batters are making the most of the tournament. Moreover, with a significant number of games still left in the season, the total number of sixes tally is expected to soar further and reach a new high.

Notably, the IPL 2024 season league stage will conclude this week before playoffs begin on May 21.
