India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir gave a fiery response to DC owner Parth Jindal for his comments on split coaching. Gambhir said people who don't belong to the cricket domain must stay within their limits.

India won the three-game ODI series against South Africa by 2-1 with a 9-wicket victory in Vizag. Following the win, coach Gambhir addressed the press conference and had fiery responses to off-field drama.

Gautam Gambhir takes direct aim at DC owner

During the post-match press conference in Vizag, Gautam Gambhir was asked how he is reacting to the criticism directed towards him after the 0-2 Test series loss against South Africa at home.

Gambhir was furious and blamed the journalists' and critics for ignoring the fact that they lost in-form captain Shubman Gill in the first Test to injury, where they lost by just 30 runs.

Instead, all the focus and criticism were focused on pitches and team combination decisions.

"Yes, the results weren't in out favour but strangely no one talked about losing out on Shubman Gill, injured. No media no journalist asked about that India lost the first Test by 30 runs without their in-form captain. Just because I don't give excuses doesn't mean people don't state facts in front of the nation. This team is in transition, not much experience. He is your in-form batter as well,"Gambhir said.

Not only that, Gautam Gambhir issued a stern warning to Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal for his comments on split coaching. He said people who don’t belong in the cricket domain must not interfere and keep their opinions to themselves.

"No one talked about it, they talked about pitch conditions and everything. People who are not even related to the field of cricket said a lot of things. One IPL owner even suggested split coaching. It's surprising. People should talk within their domain, because if we don't interfere in their domain, they've no right to interfere in ours," he added.

Parth Jindal had tweeted earlier that India are losing at home because red-ball specialist players are given importance in Test cricket.

He added that India should appoint a specialist red-ball coach, indirectly suggesting that Gautam Gambhir should only focus on managing the white-ball formats.

"Not even close, what a complete thrashing at home! Don’t remember seeing our test side being so weak at home!!!This is what happens when red ball specialists are not picked. This team is nowhere near reflective of the deep strength we possess in the red ball format. Time for India to move to a specialist red ball coach for Test cricket," Jindal wrote in his Tweet.

That being said, despite multiple defeats in the Test series at home, Gautam Gambhir’s job as all-format coach is safe. According to reports, BCCI is in no mood to re-evaluate him until the 2026 T20 World Cup.

He may as well go on to complete his tenure until the 2027 ODI World Cup as well.
