As Team India gear up for a packed red-ball season, Indian captain Rohit Sharma emphasised the importance of treating every match with equal seriousness, particularly the upcoming series against Bangladesh. With the series set to begin on September 19, Rohit addressed the media, underscoring that no match should be taken as a warm-up for future contests, even for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Rohit Sharma was clear in his message—there is no room for complacency. Despite the excitement surrounding the series against Australia later in the year, Rohit stressed the significance of the Bangladesh Test series. He pointed out that each match provides an opportunity to establish momentum and perform at the highest level.

"No dress rehearsal, Every game is important. Doesn’t matter where we play. We want to win, want to win this Test and the series. Not looking too far ahead. It’s nice to have everyone back and start the season on a high," said Rohit.

Ahead of the first Test, Team India has been training rigorously in Chennai. This camp, which began a week before the Test, has allowed the players to hone their skills and get back into the rhythm of the game.

According to Rohit, the camp has played a critical role in the team’s preparation, especially for players who haven’t had the chance to play competitive cricket recently.

"We had a good break, but this camp was necessary," Rohit stated. "It’s crucial to spend time together on the field, and the camp has given us a good opportunity to get back into the groove."

Rohit Sharma On KL Rahul's Inclusion

In addition to discussing the team’s overall preparation, Rohit Sharma also touched on the importance of key players like KL Rahul. Despite a recent injury, Rahul has remained an integral part of Team India’s strategy, and Sharma expressed optimism about his return. The captain highlighted the depth of talent within the squad and reiterated the importance of collective effort.

"Every player is important, and Rahul's return will further strengthen the team. We are focused on getting everyone in top shape for the series," Sharma added.
