The recently concluded two-Test series between India and South Africa have everyone including former and current players, and fans wanting more matches after the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.

South Africa blew India away in the Boxing Day Test at Centurion while Rohit Sharma and Co. made an impressive comeback at Cape Town, thumping the hosts by seven wickets to become the second Indian captain to fly back home with a drawn red-ball series in the Rainbow Nation.

Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri has given his blunt take on nations playing two-Test series.

Speaking to Star Sports, Shastri urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reject such short-series moving forward and focus more on either 'T20I and Test or ODI and Test tours.

Here's what Ravi Shastri said

“After watching this Test series, the Indian cricket establishment should make sure to never play just two Tests. If some country invites you for a two-Test series, say, ‘We won't go'. Two-Test match series are a waste of time. It's neither here nor there. Focus should be on either playing T20Is and Test matches or ODIs and Test matches. They could have easily played three T20Is and three Tests."

India's upcoming Tests include five vs. England (January), two vs. Bangladesh (September), three vs. New Zealand (October), and five vs. Australia (November-December).

The first Test between India and England commences on January 25, which begins just after T20Is against Afghanistan.
