Afghanistan Name Squad For India T20Is; Naveen-ul-Haq In, Ibrahim Zadran To Lead

Ibrahim Zadran will lead AFG vs IND [X.com]

In a significant development, Afghanistan have named a robust 19-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India. Experienced opening batter Ibrahim Zadran will lead the side, which is a mix of experience and youth. 

Skipper Zadran will spearhead Afghanistan’s top-order batting alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rahmat Shah and Hazratullah Zazai, with Ikram Alikhil and Najibullah Zadran slotted in the middle order. 

Azmatullah Omarzai, who grabbed the limelight during the 2023 World Cup, is set to play as the prime all-rounder along with Karim Janat and Mohammad Nabi. 

Led by Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Afghanistan’s spin unit seems to be their biggest strength heading into the series. 

Promising bowlers Qais Ahmad and Sharafuddin Ashraf have also made it into the squad, with the familiar trio of Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq and Fareed Malik set to play as fast bowlers.
