Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto blamed poor batting for his side's devastating Test series defeat against India. Under Rohit Sharma's astute captaincy, India thrashed Bangladesh in two consecutive matches to bag the high-voltage Test series by two-nil. After recording a 280-run win in the opening game at Chepauk, the hosts steamrolled the Tigers by seven wickets, solidifying their top position in the World Test Championship points table.

Bangladesh were bowled out for a paltry 146 runs in their second innings, making things significantly easy for India to force a result in the rain-affected Kanpur Test. Therefore, following the visitors' horrendous defeat, Shanto slammed the batting unit for their poor show on the India tour.

The stylish southpaw emphasised converting starts into significant knocks, stating,

"We didn't bat well in both Tests. In these conditions, we needed to bat well. If you look at our batters - we played 30-40 balls and got out. In a Test match, the batsmen should look to score big runs once they get in."

Shanto Lauds Jadeja And Ashwin For Their Batting Performances

Shanto also heaped praise on India's talismanic all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin for their clinical outing in the Test series. He added,

"The way Ashwin and Jaddu batted at that time - they batted really well. As a bowling unit we need to look at those moments-how we can get those wickets. That partnership cost us that game."

The southpaw hailed the experienced Mominul Haque and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for their impressive performance in the Kanpur Test.

"The way Mominul batted this innings will help going forward. And the way Miraz bowled in both innings - he bowled really well," Shanto concluded.
