3 Reasons Why New Zealand Won't Be A Threat To Invincible India In Upcoming Series

Team India played their best Test match in years, as the Rohit Sharma led side thrashed Bangladesh inside 2.5 days to seal the series in Kanpur. More than 200 overs were sacrificed as rain and poor drainage system had abandoned the play in the first three days.

However, that didn't affect the outcome as India outclassed Bangladesh with ease to whitewash the Tigers, 2-0. With that, they have strengthened their position in the WTC points table.

However, they will now face a bigger challenge in the New Zealand side, who will tour India for a 3-match Test series. But, this New Zealand side looks a pale shadow of their former self and here are the 3 reasons why they won't be a threat top this Indian side.

India are invincible at home

The last India lost a Test series was in 2012, more than 12 years ago. Since then, they are on a winning streak and have decimated the opponents with relative ease. Teams have come to India, but have surrendered against the potent bowling lineup.

This New Zealand side looks weak on paper, and shouldn't possess much threat to the home team, who are invincible at home and have won 18 consecutive Test series.

New Zealand have a poor away Test record

The Kiwis are a force to reckon at home, but have a dismal record away from their home. They have not defeated a SENA country away from home since 2021, and the last time they won a series away from home was against the England side, led by Joe Root.

Since then, the team is on a losing streak, and recently were humiliated by Sri Lanka, as the home side won the series 2-0, thus inflicting a heavy defeat on the Kiwis. Most of their players tend to struggle away from home, and as a result, their team are undercooked as they head towards the Indian shores.

Kiwi players are woefully out of touch

Kane Williamson, their star batter has an average of 33 in India, but that average has dropped considerably in the last few years. Similarly, another star player of the team, Devon Conway has been woefully out of touch, and his batting was exposed on challenging surface during the Sri Lanka tour. In Asian conditions, he averages 33.63, showcasing his struggles on turning tracks.

Moreover, the bowlers, too, don't look promising, as they conceded 600-plus runs against the Sri Lankan batters, and failed to grab wickets to push pressure on the Lankan batters. The Indian team is far superior than Sri Lanka, and their batters, are too, performing extremely well, and hence, the Kiwis have their task cut-off against a strong Indian team at home.
