In a sensational display of power hitting, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the 22-year-old Indian opener, etched his name in the books of cricket history by matching Wasim Akram's record for the highest number of sixes in a Test innings.

Jaiswal's breathtaking unbeaten knock of 214 runs, studded with 12 towering sixes, propelled India to a victory against England in the third Test at Rajkot's Niranjan Shah Stadium.

The Rajkot Test witnessed Jaiswal's second double hundred of the series, as his blitzkrieg innings propelled India to a formidable total of 430-4 in the second innings, setting England an imposing target of 557 runs to win. With this colossal performance, India secured their highest-ever margin of victory in Test cricket, thrashing England by a massive 434 runs.

Reflecting on Jaiswal's achievement, former Pakistani captain Wasim Akram, whose record Jaiswal matched, commented during a show on 'A SPORTS', "Yashasvi Jaiswal has equaled my world record of 12 sixes in a Test inning, but my record didn't get broken." Akram's record-setting innings of 257* with 12 sixes came against Zimbabwe during their tour of Pakistan in 1996 at Sheikhupura.

Looking ahead to the fourth Test scheduled in Ranchi from February 23, Jaiswal seems poised to continue his onslaught with the bat. With his eye-catching display in the series so far, speculation arises that Jaiswal might target surpassing Akram's record this time in the upcoming match at Ranchi.
