Team India crushed England's Rajkot ambitions on Day 4 with a record margin to go 2-1 up in their five-match series. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja headlined India's dominant day out, with debutant Sarfaraz Khan also chipping in with a crafty 68*.

After the match, winning captain Rohit Sharma praised young Yashasvi and revealed the message he conveyed to his team after Ben Duckett's Day 2 onslaught had put England in the driver's seat.

Rohit Sharma heaps high praise on teammates

While speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma revealed that he had asked his teammates to remain calm after Ben Duckett’s rapid century on Day 2. Duckett's near run-a-ball hundred took England to 207-2 by stumps, as they looked well on course to overall India's first innings total of 445 the following day.

However, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja shattered England's lower half and kept them 126 runs down at the halfway stage of the game.

Sharma expressed his admiration for his teammates and acknowledged them for sticking to the plan throughout the contest. He said:

“See, when you are playing Test cricket, it is not played over two or three days. We know the importance of playing over the course of five days. They played well. But we have got class in our squad. The message was to stay calm. Not drift from what we want as a team. I'm proud of my team because they sticked to the plans.”

Rohit Sharma also praised debutant Sarfaraz Khan for unleashing twin 60-plus knocks in the match. The legendary opening batsman further stated that the team management does not have a long-term plan regarding their batting order at the moment. He stated:

“We all know Sarfaraz. He did what he does the best. We don’t have any long-term plan with the batting order. We go with whatever we feel on the day and go with the flow.”

Sharma hailed opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal and expressed his hope that the youngster will keep delivering the goods for his country.

“I have spoken a lot about Yashasvi in Vizag as well. Even outside the dressing room, there have been a lot of talks about him. I won't talk about him. He is young and I'll hope that he keeps doing and delivering for the side.”

Rohit Sharma will now be seen leading his Indian troops in the fourth Test of the series against England at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Complex. The much-awaited contest will be staged between February 23 and February 27.
