'My Legs Are Paining...,' Ashwin Reveals Drama After Virat Kohli's Dropped Catch

It wasn't any less tense during the game between India and Australia in the World Cup 2023, as the hosts lost three of their prime batters for a duck within the second over while chasing 200, after which the most tense moment came when Mitchell Marsh dropped in-form batter Virat Kohli on the score of 12, giving Indian fans a sigh of relief.

All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, speaking about the incident to official broadcaster Star Sports after the game, comically narrated the story, sharing his superstition along the way. Ashwin, who bagged a wicket in the game, expressed what went inside his head when the ball went straight up.

The off-spinner said that as soon as he saw the ball in the air, his instant reaction was to wake him up when the match was over, considering it would be a stern chase. However, he went inside the dressing room at that very moment and heard the crowd shouting all of a sudden, which made him stay in the place for the remainder of the game, which caused him pain in the legs.

"When I saw Virat Kohli's ball went up in the air, I ran outside the dressing room. I literally ran outside the dressing room, I was like thinking wake me up when it's all over. It's a World Cup game against Australia so you don't expect anything easy. It's a big game, and when you are shot for 199, do you think you expected us to coast home. I ran back into the dressing room, and the crowd erupted. I stayed in the same place for the entire game. My legs are paining now, actually."

Ashwin's funny take could have been more serious had Marsh taken the catch, which could have been India's fourth wicket, but fortunately, a life to Kohli resulted in him scoring 85 and forging a 165-run partnership with KL Rahul, taking Men in Blue to safe shores by six wickets.

India's next challenge is going to be Afghanistan, whom they will face on 11th October in Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.
