Jasprit Bumrah Opens Up On His Excitement For Australia Tour
Ahead of Day 4 of the ongoing Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, Jasprit Bumrah shared his thoughts with the broadcasters and emphasized his joy in getting back to Test action and his eagerness to shoulder a larger bowling workload, especially with India's upcoming tour of Australia.
India is scheduled to host New Zealand for a three-match series after the ongoing Bangladesh series concludes. Bumrah stated that he is conscious of the increased workload that awaits him. He also mentioned that he is aware of the conditions of Australia, where fast bowlers are expected to put in long spells on hard, bouncy tracks.
"You have to be smart (to stay fit for Australia) and it's good to get some overs under the belt here although the number of overs to be bowled will be a lot more in Australia," Bumrah told host broadcaster ahead of the fourth day's play.
The Kanpur Test has been marred by rain, with both Day 2 and Day 3 being washed out. Despite the disruptions, Bumrah acknowledged that adapting to the weather conditions is an unavoidable aspect of the game, and stressed the importance of experience in making quick adjustments.
"Weather is not in your control, it is the way it is. Good to get some time to relax. You've to quickly adjust to the changing conditions here after Chennai, quickly adapt and communicate with others, like about changing lines and lengths," said Bumrah.
Speaking about his preparation and the road ahead, Bumrah made it clear that he relishes the challenges that come with Test cricket.
"My favourite format is the Tests, I've always said that. I'm trying to give my absolute best in this format," said the champion bowler.
Talking about the ongoing match, as play resumed on Day 4 in Kanpur, Bumrah wasted no time in making an impact, and delivered a stunning ball to clean bowl Bangladesh's veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim.
