Team India began their newest assignment on a high note, registering a thumping win over the UAE and giving a great start to their run. As the bowlers shattered the opponent’s batting lineup, Shivam Dube’s remarkable display with the ball grabbed the attention.

He transformed into a game-changer as India got the advantage with his magical spell. After the emphatic victory, Shivam Dube credited Morne Morkel for shaping his standout performance.

Dube Credits Morne Morkel For Bowling Transformation

As Team India started their Asia Cup 2025 journey, the beginning can’t be sweeter as Suryakumar Yadav and Co. outplayed the UAE with sheer dominance. The bowlers brought magic on the field, but Shivam Dube’s magical spell brought the difference. Conceding just four runs in two overs, he secured three wickets with an economy rate of 2.00, completely dismantling the UAE’s batting lineup.

After a perfect start to their campaign, Dube reflected on his performance. He revealed that a mix of Morne Morkel’s advice and his own hard work turned his spell into a game-changing display on the big stage.

“Morne has been working with me since I came back into the Indian team for the England series. He has given me certain specific advice and I worked on them. He told me to bowl a line that is slightly outside the off-stump. He also worked with me in developing a slower delivery and tweaked my run-up a bit. The head coach and the skipper had told me that my bowling would have a role to play,” he said.

Dube's Hustle Before The Asia Cup

After wrapping up the IPL, Shivam Dube was away from Team India’s squad, but the all-rounder used the time on his transformation. Ahead of receiving the Asia Cup call-up, he worked on his fitness and also fixed his issues with the short balls. The hard work paid off on the big stage in the last match, and recently, Dube opened up about his meticulous preparation ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.

“For the last two months, I have worked a great deal on my fitness. As far as my batting is concerned, I know I have a role to play (as a power-hitter) in the middle overs. I know over the years, bowlers targeted me with short balls, and I have worked on increasing my range of shots,” he said.

The Asia Cup 2025 journey started on a high note for Team India as they registered a dominating 9-wicket victory over the UAE. As their next match is scheduled against Pakistan, the men in blue are all set to face their arch rivals on September 14.
