Team India walloped hosts UAE with a couple of hours to spare to start off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on a triumphant note. Ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav and premier all-rounder Shivam Dube picked up seven wickets between them before openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill pulled off a record chase for Team India.

Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube Decimate UAE For 57
UAE openers Alishan Sharafu (22 off 17) and captain Muhammad Waseem (19 off 22) started off with a confident 26-run stand in less than four overs. However, the hosts lost all their 10 wickets over the course of the next 10 overs, aggregating just 31 more runs in the process to get bundled out for 57.
Jasprit Bumrah delivered the first punch for Team India with the wicket of a well-set Sharafu. Varun Chakravarthy (1-4) dismissed number three Muhammad Zohaib for just two, while ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav cut through UAE’s middle-order with four wickets at an expense of just seven runs off his 2.1 overs. Spinner Axar Patel (1-13) and fast bowler Shivam Dube (3-4) folded up UAE’s lower-order as they slipped from 47-2 to 57 all out.
Abhishek Sharma And Shubman Gill Finish Well Inside Powerplay
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma started off the chase with a six, and blasted 30 runs off just 16 balls in all, clattering two boundaries and three sixes in the process before getting holed out by Haider Ali off Junaid Siddique (1-16). Comeback man and newly-appointed India’s T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill also compiled 20* off just nine balls, while captain Suryakumar Yadav made 7* in two balls as the duo notched up the winning runs for the ‘Men in Blue’ with nine wickets and a record 93 balls to spare.
