Lately, there have been rumors that India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, might leave Mumbai and join Goa for domestic cricket. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has now put an end to all speculation, confirming that Suryakumar will continue playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
MCA Denies Suryakumar’s Move to Goa
The MCA has officially dismissed the claims that Suryakumar, along with some teammates, was planning to switch to Goa for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. The speculation started after young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to leave Mumbai and join Goa due to reported differences with senior players in the Mumbai Ranji team.
Jaiswal’s decision to join Goa from the 2025-26 season came as a shock. He is expected to become the team captain, but his availability remains uncertain due to his busy international cricket commitments. However, his transfer will only be finalized when the BCCI’s inter-state transfer window opens.
Following this news, reports emerged that Goa Cricket Association (GCA) was also looking to bring in Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma from Mumbai.
Suryakumar himself denied the rumors on his social media (X handle), calling them baseless. Meanwhile, the MCA released an official statement, confirming his commitment to Mumbai. MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap stated,
“We are aware of rumors about Suryakumar Yadav leaving Mumbai for Goa. However, after speaking with him, we can confirm that these claims are completely false. Suryakumar remains dedicated to Mumbai and takes great pride in representing the team. We urge everyone to stop spreading misinformation and support our players.”
Why Did Jaiswal Leave Mumbai?
Jaiswal’s move from Mumbai to Goa is reportedly due to personal reasons. Mumbai has played a key role in shaping his career, but he has now decided to explore opportunities elsewhere. He officially informed MCA on Tuesday about his decision, and the association quickly accepted his request.
