Suryakumar Yadav has come down strongly to rebut a fake news regarding the Indian domestic circuit. Currently representing Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2025, Yadav took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to put forward his side of the story.
The 34-year-old player took refuge in sarcasm to deny his involvement in convincing Mumbai cricketers to join Goa for the 2025-2026 domestic season. If truth be told, the allegation made instant headlines due to the potential participation of India’s T20I captain.
Suryakumar Yadav Played No Role In Yashasvi Jaiswal's Goa Move
In what has been a busy evening for the followers of domestic cricket in the country, Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal switching to Goa for the next domestic season came across as a major surprise.
As per reports doing the rounds, Yadav is playing the mediator between Mumbai players and GCA (Goa Cricket Association). It was also being supposed that Yadav will follow Yashasvi Jaiswal in terms of joining Goa, who qualified for the Elite Division of the Ranji Trophy by virtue of winning the Plate League.
“Script writer hai ya journalist? Agar hasna hai toh I will stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Ekdum bakwas [Are you a script writer or a journalist? If you expect me to laugh, I’ll stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Utter rubbish],” Yadav refuted trending reports on X.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Couldn’t Resist Leadership Proposal
For someone who rose up the ranks in Mumbai’s well-established club and age-group system, Jaiswal agreeing to ply his trade for a neighboring team was because of a potential leadership option.
Be it India, Mumbai, his former domestic team, or Rajasthan Royals, his IPL team, the 23-year-old player is lower down the pecking order with regard to leadership.
With the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer and Yadav, himself, seniors to Jaiswal at Mumbai, captaincy wouldn’t have come anytime sooner. As far as RR are concerned, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag have already been identified as top captaincy contenders.
