Shubman Gill is all set to lead the Indian team in the upcoming ODI series against Australia starting on October 19. While he has shown much potential in the Test series against England, the ODIs wouldn't be easy as well.

Ahead of the series, Gill has expressed his emotions about leading Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the first time and what it means to him. The legendary batters will be taking the field after four months, increasing the thrill of the series. Interestingly, India have last won a bilateral in Australia under Kohli's captaincy. So the pressure on Captain Gill will be immense.

Captain Shubman Gill spoke about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Australia series. Gill mentioned his admiration for the cricketers and that he's thrilled to lead them in the upcoming series.

"When I was a kid, I used to idealise both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The kind of game they used to play and the type of hunger they had was something that inspired me. It's a big honour to be able to lead such legends of the game and learn from them," said Shubman Gill.

India to clash against Australia on Oct 19

After a long gap of 224 days, cricket fans will get to watch Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli bat. The Australia series will be tough for the visitors since players like Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, and Mitchell Starc will be playing. Moreover, it's Gill's first series as an ODI captain, which is most likely to make things even more difficult for the Indian team.

However, the series will be filled with thrilling contests since the rivalry between India and Australia is epic. The fans will have a good time watching the 3-match ODI and 5-match T20I series in the upcoming weeks.
