Star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan has dropped a surprising hint of protest by removing the tag for Lahore Qalandars from his Twitter bio. This move comes in the wake of a deadly airstrike in Afghanistan that has stirred outrage.

Afghanistan-Pakistan political relations are on the boil after a major conflict broke out earlier this month. According to the latest reports, a Pakistani airstrike killed dozens of civilians in Paktika, including 3 Afghan domestic cricketers.

Rashid Khan threatens to quit the PSL with the latest act

The deadly attack shook Afghanistan’s cricket community as star cricketer Rashid Khan slammed the ‘barbaric’ airstrike and condoled the lives lost.

In a statement, he further deemed the incident as unjust and urged the world not to let it go unnoticed.

Moreover, in a further act of protest against Pakistan, Rashid has dropped the tag of PSL team Lahore Qalandars from his X (formerly Twitter) bio. The spinner has been associated with the Lahore franchise since 2020.

He won 3 titles with them, but as tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan continue to escalate, Rashid Khan might as well withdraw from the next Pakistan Super League season to stand in solidarity with his countrymen.

ACB withdraws from Pakistan tri-series

Cricket relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been officially severed after the ACB confirmed withdrawal from the upcoming tri-series scheduled against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The T20I series was expected to be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi from November 17 to 20. However, Afghanistan will not set foot in Pakistan in the midst of a tense military standoff in the border regions.

PCB, however, is yet to issue an official statement on whether this series will go on or not.
