Former India opener, Virender Sehwag has criticised Virat Kohli for his slow and sluggish hundred against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

Sehwag reckoned that Kohli didn't improve his strike-rate after breaching the 50-run mark and that derailed RCB's momentum. However, Sehwag alongside Mohammed Shami, who was also a panelist on Cricbuzz blasted the entire RCB team for not supporting Kohli with the bat.

Kohli, who started on an aggressive note against Trent Boult and Nandre Burger, failed to capitalised on the momentum and eventually scored his hundred in 67-balls.

Sehwag criticises Kohli

“I felt RCB scored about 20 runs less. About Virat Kohli, his knock was great, but there was nobody to support him. Karthik did not come...so there were no big hitters to accompany him and those who came did not to work. Yes Kohli's strike rate should have definitely increased because when you score 50 in 39 balls, then you tend to score at a quicker rate thereafter. The strike rate automatically then almost touches 200. He made a mistake there for sure,” Sehwag stated.

Shami defends Kohli

Mohammed Shami, who is injured at the moment had a different take on Kohli's innings. He reckoned that Kohli did is part, but got no support from the other end as Cameron Green, Faf du Plessis dn Glenn Maxwell failed to deliver once again.

“Kohli has always performed, whether for the Indian team or RCB. But how can RCB put the entire burden on Kohli's shoulders? The rest of the batters need to step up,” Shami said.

After a third successive loss, RCB maintain their 8th position in the points table, with a soliary win and four losses. They next play against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede.
