November 19 turned out to be a sad day for Indian cricket. After outplaying each and every opponent in the World Cup 2023, the Rohit Sharma led Indian team were thrashed by Australia, who clinched their sixth World title.

The loss was heartbreaking and it certainly took a toll on the Indian cricketers, as well as the fans, who expected the Men in Blue to win their third 50-over title.

Rohit speaks after the WC heartbreak

The captain of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma visited the Kapil Sharma show recently and spoke in detail about his thoughts on the World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Rohit stated that the mood in the Indian camp was good ahead of the finals and everyone worked on auto-pilot mode.

"It’s hard to say because, before the match we were in Ahmedabad two days earlier, and had our practice. The team had maintained a good momentum. As they say, the team was on autopilot."

The Indian skipper also mentioned that the plan was to get a good start and put up huge total on the board to put pressure on the Australian team.

"But when the finals began, we had a great start, I think Shubman Gill got out quickly. But then Virat and I had a small partnership. We were confident that we could get a good score."

Despite the grief, Rohit didn't shy away from praising the Australian team, who deservingly were crowned the champions of the world.

"But the Australian team played good cricket. We managed to take three wickets for just 40 runs, but then they had a long partnership”.

Chasing 241, the Australian team was pushed on the back-foot. However, a brilliant partnership between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne pulled the game back for the Aussies as they eventually won the coveted World Cup. Head amassed a scintillating ton and was rightly adjudged the Player of the Match.
