India A vs Bangladesh A at the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 saw the former lose in the Super Over and get knocked out of the tournament. The Super Over drama, however, omitted Vaibhav Suryavanshi from batting, and IND A skipper Jitesh Sharma revealed the reason behind snubbing the young firepower.

Notably, Jitesh Sharma and Ramandeep Singh came to bat in the Super Over, and the latter was dismissed for a duck. Ashutosh Sharma followed and was gone for a zero as well, giving BAN A a target of just one run to win.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not a death over specialist

Explaining the call behind not inviting Suryavanshi to the crease, Jitesh Sharma revealed that it was his as well as the team's decision not to send him for the task.

“In the team, Vaibhav and Priyansh are masters of the powerplay, while in the death overs, Ashu and Raman can hit at will. So the Super Over lineup was a team decision, and I made the final call,” Jitesh said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Suryavanshi, who is the top run scorer of the tournament with 239 runs, scored 38 runs off 15 balls in the match but failed to convince the management for a run in the Super Over.

Jitesh Sharma and Co. had to pay the price for the mistake, as he chose Ashutosh Sharma and Ramandeep for their death over skills rather than Suryavanshi's powerplay skills.

The drama that led to the Super Over

In the match, India A bowlers paid a heavy price with the ball, as only Gurjapneet Singh bagged 2 wickets, and other bowlers were expensive as Bangladesh piled up 194 runs in their 20 overs. Chasing the target, India A stumbled with notable contributions from Priyansh Arya, Suryavanshi, Nehal Wadhera, and Jitesh Sharma before the match went into the Super Over.

The buildup to the Super Over was dramatic. 16 was needed off the last over, and due to the horrible fielding lapses of Bangladesh, India managed to tie the game and lead it to the ultimate decider.
