India pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah is once again in the spotlight for his magical bowling in the ongoing first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds. Known as one of the finest pacers of modern cricket, Bumrah’s latest five-wicket haul has earned him massive praise from fans, experts, and even former cricketers.

What’s even more impressive about the 31-year-old pacer is that just a few months ago, he wasn’t even bowling due to a back injury. After a long three-month break following the Test series in Australia, Bumrah returned with a bang in the IPL and is now dominating Test cricket too.

‘Bumrah Is the Best Fast Bowler Ever’: Steven Finn

Former England pacer Steven Finn didn’t hold back in praising Bumrah. In his BBC column, Finn said Bumrah is the best fast bowler to ever play the game.

“In a climate where the disparity between the Test and T20 formats for bowlers is becoming wider and requiring a differing range of skills, Bumrah is the best in both,” Finn wrote.

“Bumrah is a thinker about the game and would have been India's first choice as the new Test captain has it not been for his struggle to play in every match. He took the decision himself to not pursue the job as he did not feel it was fair on the team," he added.

“We're lucky to be in an era of great fast bowlers. From recent international retirees Stuart Broad and James Anderson, to Kagiso Rabada, Cummins, Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

“Bumrah sits atop of them all as the finest fast bowler to have played the game. Some accolade.”

Finn explained that facing Bumrah is unlike anything else. Even if a batter watches hours of footage, they still can’t guess what Bumrah will do next. His action, his delivery, and his rhythm are all so unique that no batter can truly prepare for him.

Best Asian Bowler in SENA Countries

With his outstanding figures of 5/83 in 24.4 overs, Bumrah now has 10 five-wicket hauls in SENA countries, the most by any Indian bowler. Notably, his bowling average of 19.33 is the best ever among bowlers who have taken over 200 Test wickets. He also matched Kapil Dev’s record for the most away wickets by an Indian.

It is worth mentioning that Bumrah has now become a nightmare for batters no matter the format -Test, ODI or T20I.
