Sri Lanka has made two changes to their squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, which starts on July 25 and will continue till July 29 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo. The team has included spinner Dunith Wellalage and fast bowler Vishwa Fernando for the match as reported by @DanuskaAravinda. This Test is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

Dunith Wellalage And Vishwa Fernando Added To Sri Lanka Squad

Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage has played just one Test match so far in his career. He made his debut against Pakistan but couldn’t pick up any wickets. Still, Sri Lanka seem to be backing his talent and giving him another opportunity to prove himself in the longer format.

On the other hand, Vishwa Fernando is a more experienced player. The left-arm fast bowler has already played 27 Test matches and taken 79 wickets. His inclusion adds strength to Sri Lanka’s pace attack, especially with the Colombo pitch expected to offer some assistance to seamers early on.

Notably, Veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews has officially retired from Test cricket. The first Test against Bangladesh in Galle, which ended in a draw on June 21, was his final match in the format. Despite Bangladesh having the upper hand for most of the game, rain interruptions prevented them from forcing a result.

After the second Test, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will face off in a limited-overs series consisting of three ODIs (July 2, 5, 8) and three T20Is (July 10, 13, 16).
