The ongoing India–Bangladesh drama is growing bigger with each passing day, and Mustafizur Rahman’s snub has only added fuel to the fire. The international tension between neighboring nations impacted the cricketing arena, exacerbating the situation.

After KKR released him, the decision sparked widespread outrage across the cricketing world, with voices from all corners slamming the move. Adding fuel to this, English all-rounder Moeen Ali slammed the move as a global crisis.

Moeen Ali reacts strongly to Mustafizur Rahman's snub

During the IPL 2026 auction, when KKR sealed the deal of Mustafizur Rahman with a whopping amount of 9.20 crore, Bangladeshi fans were ecstatic as KKR supporters warmly welcomed the bowler. But the situation took a dramatic turn when the geopolitical tension between India and Bangladesh erupted.

After the franchise snubbed him from the upcoming edition of the league, the cricket world slammed the decision. Recently, England’s all-rounder Moeen Ali broke the silence on this matter. Speaking to bdnews24.com, he slammed the move.

“I honestly feel the solution might eventually look more like football. You have the World Cup, ICC events, maybe one or two big international series, and then the rest is franchise cricket. Because the game is already struggling with these issues, and then what happened to Mustafizur on top of that makes it even worse,” he said.

Mustafizur Rahman pays the price despite doing nothing wrong

As the world has been vocal about the issue, Moeen Ali extended his support to Mustafizur Rahman. Backing the Bangladeshi pacer, the English all-rounder stressed that the IPL contract was earned through Mustafizur’s relentless hard work, but what should have been a career-defining opportunity instead turned into the moment where he suffered the most.

“Something is clearly not right. This isn’t just about Mustafizur. Pakistan, Bangladesh, we all know there are ongoing issues. It can’t continue like this. These are big problems,” he said.

“I feel the worst for Mustafizur. He earned that contract through years of consistent performances. For his career, that was a massive opportunity. He could’ve played for any team, but it was KKR, and in truth, he’s the one suffering the most,” he added.

Moeen Ali condemns Jay Shah's ICC

The India-Bangladesh turmoil emerged as a big issue in the cricket world. Following Mustafizur Rahman’s snub, Bangladesh banned IPL broadcasts in the country, while the BPL added fuel to the fire by blocking an Indian presenter. As the drama is being intensified more each day, a new India-Pakistan like rivalry is taking shape as India-Bangladesh.

England star Moeen Ali has also targeted the ICC for it's duopoly. Without taking names, Moeen fired shots at Jay Shah and India for running their agends in ICC.

“The ICC has never really been ideal. Everyone knows who runs things. But nobody speaks up. Everyone has their own agenda, and as long as they’re fine, they don’t care,”  Ali stated.
