Ravindra Jadeja scythed through the Australian middle-order to leave their tail vulnerable upfront in their opening World Cup 2023 contest in Chennai. The cricketer dismantled a well-set Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and newcomer Alex Carey all in quick succession as Australia slumped from 110-2 to 119-5.

Jadeja was one of the three Indian spinners to take field against Australia alongside Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav as captain Rohit Sharma unleashed a three-way spin attack on Pat Cummins and co. on a turning Chepauk wicket.

Remarkably, Dinesh Karthik had boldly predicted about Jadeja’s majestic spell nearly an hour prior to the blockbuster game after having accessed the pristine spin conditions on offer at the venue.

Dinesh Karthik prediction on Ravindra Jadeja goes viral

Nearly an hour before the commencement of the match, Indian cricketer-cum-commentator Dinesh Karthik took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a bold prediction for his fans. He shared a picture of the turning Chepauk surface and claimed that Ravindra Jadeja will have a field day on the wicket against the visiting Australians.

Karthik’s prophecy came true as Ravindra Jadeja single-handedly dismantled Australia’s middle-order, after David Warner and Steve Smith had staged a rebellious recovery at the top of the order.

The charismatic Indian spinner dismissed Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey in a space of just 10 deliveries, as Australia slumped from 110-2 to 119-5.

His spin mates Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav also raked in the benefits of pristine spin conditions, as the duo further reduced the Australians to 140-7.

The ongoing match marks the opening World Cup 2023 fixtures for both India and Australia, as they aim to seek early momentum in the tournament with a win upfront.
