KL Rahul's comeback from injury has been phenomenal, dishing out performances in Asia Cup 2023 and the recently concluded three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia.

Rahul ended up leading India in the first two ODIs against Australia at Mohali and Indore, with Rohit Sharma taking the reins in the third and final match.

Former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh, who has worked during the ODI series as a presenter, quizzed Rahul over his recent workload, all while expressing his concern.

"What about the workload personally, you've got to keep wickets, and you have got to bat at the top of the order or at No.4 in these conditions. I felt sorry for you in Mohali. I just don't know how you do it. Is it hard to cope with all that in the heat?"

Speaking on Sports 18, Rahul, who idolises head coach Rahul Dravid, responded how the LSG skipper loves contributing to the team's cause by any means possible,

Apart from leading India, Rahul also donned the role of a wicketkeeper in the first ODI at Mohali under scorching heat.

Here's what Rahul said

"I've come back really fresh, I've had a lot of juice in me so no complaints on that front. It has been really challenging physically. The weather and conditions in Colombo were what we thought would be the worst we could get but then we turned up in Mohali... I said this after that game as well, I said in the huddle 'We've come from Colombo, this can't be worse.' It is Mohali, it must be pleasant.

Three overs later, when Mitch Marsh got out everybody looked at each other and said skip, you've made the worst decision by opting to bat. It is a good challenge that we get used to it because we will have similar conditions to deal with in the World Cup,"

On Thursday, Rahul reached Guwahati along with India's 15-member World Cup 2023 for their first warm-up against England on Saturday.

India play the Netherlands in their second warm-up on October 3 at Thiruvananthapuram, before facing five-time winners Australia on October 8 at Chennai in their tournament opener.
