Former Australian cricketer and cricket pundit Mark Waugh has expressed his unwavering faith in India's ICC No. 1 T20 player, Suryakumar Yadav. Currently participating in the highly anticipated Ind vs Australia three-format series, Yadav found himself under scrutiny after suffering three consecutive ducks against the Australian team, raising questions about his place in the playing XI.

However, the first ODI match on September 22 in Mohali witnessed India's resounding victory over Australia by five wickets, with Yadav's stellar performance at No. 6. He silenced his critics by smashing a well-earned half-century off 49 balls, effectively addressing any doubts about his ability in the ODI format.

Impressed by Surya Kumar Yadav's match-winning display, Mark Waugh voiced his support for the talented Indian batsman.

Here's what Waugh said

"It's not about those ducks. All those things that people have been talking about, stuff like 'is he just a T20 player? Is he good enough to be a 50-overs player?'. He sure is, you don't lose your talent overnight. There are similar basics in T20 cricket and 50-over cricket. Hit the ball, run hard, put the bad ball away, he can do all those things really well,"  Waugh stated.

Waugh went on to emphasise the mental aspect of batting, saying,

"It's just a matter of him breaking free and not worrying about getting out. That's the one thing that always holds batters back -- thinking about getting out. If you can not think about that, then your natural instincts will take over and he will be fine," he further added.

The next clash between India and Australia in the second ODI is scheduled for September 24, Sunday, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
