Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma has surprised many by revealing his favourite batting partner. While he's stitched memorable partnerships with the likes of Virat Kohli and the young prodigy Shubman Gill, Rohit chose Shikhar Dhawan as his all-time favourite batting partner in ODIs.

Rohit picks Dhawan over Kohli as his favourite batting partner

Rohit and Dhawan, recognized as one of the most formidable opening pairs in ODI cricket, have played 117 innings together, scoring an impressive 5193 runs at a brilliant average of 45.15 with 18 hundred run stands.

In comparison, Rohit and Kohli have batted together 86 times in ODIs, accumulating a slightly lesser total of 5008 runs at an average of 61.82 with 18 century partnerships.

"Shikhar Dhawan and I had a very strong friendship on and off the field. We have played so many years together since our U-19 days. It's a partnership that I enjoyed being a part of. It's just a lot of fun to be around him,” said Rohit to News18 explaining his choice.

The Rohit-Dhawan duo first paired up in Champions Trophy 2013, and since then, they've made a mark as one of the sport's most successful opening pairs.

Dhawan, known for his aggressive approach, complemented Rohit's stabilizing presence at the crease. Together, they've dominated bowling attacks, both in India and abroad.

While Dhawan's ODI appearances have dwindled, Shubman Gill has emerged as Rohit's new batting confederate.

In less than 25 ODI stints together, they've already stitched five-century stands. Yet, the Rohit-Dhawan partnership's legacy remains, punctuated by their last partnership in the 2022 ODI series against Bangladesh.
