‘Colour Of Ball Is Same…’ Suryakumar Yadav Sums Up Newfound ODI Batting Form vs AUS

Suryakumar Yadav clattered a visiting Australian attack to guide Team India at the edge of the finishing line in the first ODI of their three-match series. The cricketer formed a match-winning 80-run partnership with skipper KL Rahul, and regained his own lost touch with the bat through a scintillating half-century.

Yadav’s innings also signified his importance in the Indian middle-order, just days prior to the commencement of the 2023 World Cup. After his match-winning knock, the 33-year-old revealed the new approach he undertook heading into the crease and how it helped him overcome his past demons against Australia.

Yadav reveals anecdote behind newfound success

Suryakumar Yadav justified his World Cup 2023 selection with a sensible match-winning effort against Australia in Mohali. The cricketer, who coped three successive first-ball ducks against the same opponents at home earlier this year, revealed his new strategy for countering the Australian attack after Team India romped home with their five-wicket win.

Yadav, known for batting brutality in white-ball cricket, claimed that he decided to apply himself into the crease in a bid to take the game deep. The approach seemingly worked wonders for the World Cup 2023 bound player as his near run-a-ball 50 pretty much sealed the deal for India by the time of his dismissal. After the match, he said:

“That was what I was dreaming off when I started playing this format. Try and bat till the end as much as possible and finish the game for the team. I couldn't do that today but definitely loving my new role. I have been wondering what has been happening. The colour of the ball is the same. The teams are the same. The bowlers are the same. I think I was hurrying a bit. I thought, let's take a little bit more time. Calm myself, take it slowly and try and bat deep.”

Fresh from his match-winning knock, Suryakumar Yadav will be aiming to pile on his newfound ODI rhythm on his road towards the 2023 World Cup next month.

He, along with the rest of his Indian teammates, are slated to face Australia in the second match of their series on September 24 in Indore.
