'It's Fun If You Ask Me,' Dhruv Jurel On Captain Rohit Sharma's Interaction With Juniors

India's 23-year-old emerging star Dhruv Jurel has been having quite the year, a debut against England to mark the start of the year and now a part of India's two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The wicket-keeper batter, Jurel, recently in an interview with Jatin Sapru on his YouTube Channel, talked about playing under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and also revealed that the unique approach Rohit has.

“He doesn’t sit with the seniors, he calls in the youngsters like me Sarfaraz or Jaiswal and asks us what’s going on and all. It’s fun if you ask me,” Jurel revealed.

Jurel said Rohit Sharma believes a lot in his players. He focused on telling him that representation to India for cricket is a big opportunity and that there is a need to give it your all in the field.

“Even he gives his 100 per cent as well and he might tell us to go here and there but after the game, in the evening, it’s all casual,” he added.

With the return of Rishabh Pant to Test cricket, Jurel's opportunities for now in the format might be capped. Nonetheless, he is one of the best second wicket-keeper batters India has been privy to in recent times. 

Apart from Test cricket, Jurel's batting skills have shone bright in the limited overs format. He plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and leads the Gorakhpur Lions in the league of UPT20. 

Jurel Equals MS Dhoni's Record

Recently, during the  second innings entered the history books with his seven catches in the second innings of the Duleep Trophy match, the 23-year-old equalled MS Dhoni's 20-year-old record of most catches in a single innings in the Duleep Trophy. 

Jurel was involved in the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish K Reddy, Sai Kishore and Navdeep Saini.
