Australia star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has finally spoken about whether he will take part in the IPL 2026 mini auction, and he has confirmed that he will not be participating.

After days of speculation, Maxwell announced that he has decided not to put his name in this year’s auction list. This comes after he was released by Punjab Kings following a disappointing IPL 2025 season.

Glenn Maxwell shares heartfelt message for IPL fans

Maxwell shared a heartfelt message on social media to explain his decision. He wrote that after many wonderful years in the Indian Premier League, he has chosen to step back from the auction.

“After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me,” he said.

“The IPL has helped shape me as a cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever," he added.

Notably, Maxwell had a rough IPL 2025 season after Punjab Kings bought him for Rs 4.2 crore. He scored only 78 runs and took four wickets in nine matches before being ruled out due to a fracture in his middle finger.

Over the years, Maxwell has had several strong IPL performances. The 37-year-old made his debut in 2012, and his best season came in 2014, when he scored a massive 542 runs. He later scored 310 runs in 2017, 513 in 2021, 301 in 2022, and 400 in 2023, proving his value as a big-hitting batsman.

By stepping away from the 2026 auction, Maxwell seems to be closing an important chapter of his IPL journey.

The one-day IPL 2026 mini-auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
