Kane Williamson had an impressive outing in his first Test in 2025, slamming a crucial half-century for New Zealand in the series opener against the West Indies. After New Zealand lost the prized wicket of Devon Conway for a duck, former skipper Kane Williamson gave a tough fight to the visitors. His fifty on the opening day of the Christchurch Test not only helped Williamson breach the 1000-run mark against the West Indies but also took him past the legendary Ross Taylor in a massive batting feat.

Talismanic New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson emerged as one of the biggest positives for the BlackCaps on an otherwise forgettable day of Test cricket. While most of his teammates found the Windies' attack too hot to handle, Williamson caressed his way through to a valiant half-century on a challenging track.
His 52-run knock took Williamson past the 1000-run mark against West Indies in Tests. He became the second batter from his country to achieve the landmark after Ross Taylor.

Kane Williamson's fifty in the first Test of the Christchurch Test marked his fifth half-century against the West Indies. Thus, he registered the joint-most fifty-plus scores (8) for the BlackCaps against the men in maroon, equalling Nathan Astle and overtaking Ross Taylor.

However, despite getting a solid start to his innings, Williamson couldn't convert his fifty into a century, being dismissed by Justin Greaves in the 30th over.
