The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in their 17th IPL 2025 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 5. This is also CSK’s last home game of the season, and now, fans are buzzing with speculation - could this be Ravichandran Ashwin’s final T20 match?
The rumours started flying after a tweet by Ashwin’s close friend, Prasanna Agoram, went viral. Prasanna, also known as “Pdogg,” is a well-known cricket data analyst, coach, and commentator. He’s often seen on Ashwin’s YouTube channel giving cricket insights and analysis.
R Ashwin To Retire From IPL?
Ashwin had already announced his retirement from international cricket after the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December 2024, which was held in Australia. Now, fans believe he might say goodbye to T20 cricket as well - possibly after this emotional homecoming match in Chennai.
At 38 years old, Ashwin may be ready to step away from the game and spend more time with his family.
R Ashwin's Stellar IPL Journey
Ashwin’s IPL journey began in 2009 with CSK, and he was a key player in their title wins in 2010 and 2011. Over the years, he also played for Rising Pune Super Giants (2016-2017), Punjab Kings (2018-2019), and Delhi Capitals (2020-2021). After that, he made a big return to CSK, reuniting with MS Dhoni, under whose leadership he’s spent most of his career.
In the 2025 IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Ashwin was bought by CSK for a whopping INR 9.75 crore.
