Axar Patel during IPL 2025 [Source: IPLT20.COM]
Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel is set to lead his team for the third time this IPL 2025 season, in the form of an away fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match, set to be hosted by the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, will be played on Saturday, April 5 and the action is slated to commence from 3:30 PM IST onwards.
Axar Patel seems to be undergoing a topsy-turvy season so far. While the cricketer has led his team to comprehensive wins in each of their two games, Patel is yet to pick up a single wicket, and conceded 43 runs from his four overs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Nonetheless, the cricketer finds himself in the nick of scaling some elite records and milestones. Ahead of Delhi Capitals’ away game against the CSK, here is a look at all the records Axar Patel can achieve in the much-awaited contest.
Axar On The Verge Of 1,000 Runs For DC
Axar Patel made his Delhi Capitals debut back during the 2019 edition of the IPL. To date, the blistering left-handed batter has minted 989 runs from 63 innings, while mostly batting in the middle and lower order. Maintaining an average of 23.54 and with a staggering strike rate of 135.10, Patel has listed three half-centuries in the process.
If he manages to add 11 more runs to his tally, he will become the tenth Delhi Capitals cricketer in history, and the first specialist all-rounder to complete 1,000 runs for the franchise.
Axar Seven Sixes Away From 150 T20 Sixes
Axar Patel also needs seven more sixes to complete 150 maximums in T20 cricket. The all-rounder has so far launched 143 sixes in his 276-match career, including 82 sixes in IPL and the now-defunct CLT20 combined. In 71 T20Is for Team India, Patel has clattered 23 maximums from just 44 innings.
Notably, he also needs just two more sixes to complete 50 maximums for the Delhi Capitals. In doing so, he will become only the sixth cricketer in the history of the franchise to scale the landmark figure.
Axar Nine Fours Away From 200 Boundaries In India
Axar Patel further needs to hit at least nine more boundaries to complete 200 fours in T20 cricket played in India. The cricketer has tallied nearly half of those boundaries in IPL matches, and smoked 23 fours while playing T20 international matches for Team India.
