On April 27, Delhi Capitals (DC) faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. RCB defeated Delhi by six wickets. Chasing 163 runs, Bengaluru wrapped up the match in just 18.3 overs. Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli were the stars for RCB, both hitting crucial fifties.

Delhi had started strong when Axar Patel got two early wickets, and RCB were struggling at 26 for 3. But a big partnership of over 100 runs between Krunal and Virat turned the game around for Bengaluru.

Axar Patel Opens Up On Why Delhi Capitals Lost to RCB

RCB are now looking strong with seven wins and six straight victories in away matches. Meanwhile, Axar’s captaincy came under question. One key moment was when he didn’t give Mitchell Starc the 19th over. Instead, Tim David smashed Mukesh Kumar, finishing the match quickly.

To which, the captain during the post-match presentation revealed the reason behind the defeat, he said,

"I feel that we were 10-15 runs short. I thought in the first innings, the wicket was a bit tough but due to dew, it eased out in the second innings. We missed a few catches, we need to take those catches. Intent was the same but the wicket was two-paced but after dew came in it become easier, we don’t think we could have done anything different.

We kept losing wickets. If a batter would have spent some time in the middle, then he could have accelerated, we could have got 10-15 runs extra."

RCB Move To No. 1 Spot

With this win, RCB moved to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Krunal Pandya played a fantastic knock of 73* off 47 balls, helping RCB chase the target easily with nine balls left. Virat Kohli also continued his brilliant form, scoring 51 runs off 47 balls and keeping the Orange Cap.

For Delhi, KL Rahul was the top scorer with 41 runs off 39 balls. However, Delhi kept losing wickets regularly. Tristan Stubbs gave the team a small boost by scoring a quick 34 off 18 balls, and they ended at 162 for 8.

Despite the loss, Delhi Capitals are still sitting at fourth place on the points table, with six wins in nine games. They’ll now look to move past this defeat and focus on their next game against Kolkata on Tuesday, April 29.
